After penalty shootouts, drama and controversy, the World Cup knockout rounds continued Sunday with two epic matchups.

The Round of 16's second day kicked off with Erling Haaland and Norway taking on Brazil. After a lackluster first 45 minutes between the two teams, Haaland stayed in the thick of the Golden Boot race with a brace. He had a brilliant header in the 79th minutes, then iced the game with a strike in the 90th for his seventh goal of the tournament.

In the nightcap, England and Mexico battled at Estadio Azteca in perhaps the best match of the World Cup so far and the Three Lions held on for a 3-2 win. El Tri hadn't allowed a goal in the tournament before the match but that changed early with a first-half brace by Jude Bellingham. A Julian Quinones gem cut the deficit but Harry Kane delivered a penalty kick in the 60th minute to make it 3-1. A second-half red card for England's Jarell Quansah and a Raul Jimenez penalty in the 69th minute narrowed the margin, but the Three Lions held strong for the final result.

Norway will play England next Saturday in Miami.

Jordan Henderson sustains potentially serious arm injury during celebrations Henderson, who did not play in Sunday's game, appeared to hurt his wrist after attempting to brace his fall over the ad wall with his left arm. He was stretchered off the field.

Postgame, Thomas Tuchel told reporters that the injury was more serious than expected, saying that Henderson has been taken to the hospital.

"He just fell over and injured his wrist," Tuchel said, via multiple outlets. "It looks really bad."
